There’s even a sequence where Skye gets to fly around with her jet pack. ![]() She also has learned quite a bit about being a puppeteer. “We get a lot of girls who come dressed up as Skye in our meet-and-greets, and it’s always exciting to see their reactions when they meet her,” Good says by phone from a tour stop in Dubuque, Iowa.Īlthough Good’s background includes singing, dancing and theater experience, nothing can quite prepare a young actress for the unique choreography that the big costumes require. Skye, a cockapoo aviator, is the only female character among the dogs, and she always garners the most attention from little girls who come to the show. Janelle Good portrays Skye in the present production. It all leads to an action-filled plot, plenty of singing and even room for the introduction of a new canine character named Tracker.Įach dog is represented by a puppet that is controlled by a human who cruises around the stage in an elaborate costume. They try to secure the booty for their beloved Mayor Goodway before it can fall into the hands of her rival, Mayor Humdinger. The little boy Ryder and his ace team of dogs - Chase, Marshall, Rubble, Skye, Rocky and Zuma - come to the captain’s aid and find a pirate treasure in the meantime. In “The Great Pirate Adventure,” the problem that has beset Adventure Bay has to do with the fact that the pups’ biologist friend Cap’n Turbot needs to be rescued from a cave. The current stage show is titled “The Great Pirate Adventure,” and it comes to the Morris Performing Arts Center in South Bend for a two-day, three-show run on Tuesday and Wednesday. The first touring stage version of “Paw Patrol Live” - “Race to the Rescue” - made its debut in 2016. The hit Nickelodeon television series has spun off into the ancillary worlds of video games, extensive merchandise and stage shows. The premise is spelled right out in the lyrics: “Whenever there’s a problem ’round Adventure Bay / Ryder and his team of pups will come and save the day.” Anyone who has caught so much as the theme song of “Paw Patrol” knows the gist of the show.
